Your Guide to Picture-Perfect Newborn Session: What to expect.

Welcome to the Journey of Capturing Memories

The newborn stage is fleeting and magical, and capturing those early days is a priceless way to preserve this beautiful time in your family’s life. To help you prepare, here’s everything you need to know about your upcoming newborn session with me.

1. Timing is Everything

The best time for a newborn session is within the first 5-14 days after birth. During this window, babies are still in that sleepy, curled-up stage, making it easier to pose them naturally and comfortably.

If your baby is older, don’t worry—sessions can still capture special moments and expressions unique to your little one.

2. How to Prepare Your Baby

• Feed Your Baby Before the Session: A well-fed baby is a happy, sleepy baby. Try to schedule a feeding right before we start.

• Try to keep your baby awake for as long as possible before coming to your scheduled session

• Dress your baby in Simple, Easy-to-Remove Clothing: A loose onesie or wrap works great to avoid marks on the skin. Dress yourself and family members is comfortable light clothing as the studio is kept warm for the baby. Bring your actual photoshoot outfits and change right before the photos are taken.

• Keep Your Baby Warm: A warm environment ensures your baby feels cozy and content. Bring blankets to maintain comfort. I keep the studio super toasty.

3. What to Expect During the Session

• Length: Sessions typically last 2-3 hours, allowing plenty of time for feeding, changing, and soothing. If young toddlers and/or pets are part of the session, we will dedicate the first portion of the session with them so they can be taken home earlier due to short attention span and long in nature newborn sessions.

• Poses: I’ll gently guide your baby into natural, safe poses. Safety is always my top priority, and I’ll never place your baby in an uncomfortable position.

• Family Involvement: If you’d like, we can include siblings and parents in some shots. These create heartwarming family moments you’ll cherish forever.

• I provide light snacks and water. Please feel free to bring your favorite beverage or quick bite.

4. What to Wear

• For Parents: Neutral, soft tones like beige, white, or pastels work best. Avoid bold patterns and logos to keep the focus on your family’s connection.

• For Siblings: Similar soft tones and simple outfits work well for timeless photos.

• For Baby: I’ll provide wraps, blankets, and props, so no need to worry about outfits for your little one.

5. The Studio Setup (or In-Home Experience)

If the session takes place in my studio, it will be prepped with:

• Professional lighting

• A collection of props and blankets

• A cozy, quiet environment with the essence of white noise background noise

For in-home sessions, I’ll use natural light and create a relaxed atmosphere, working around your space and preferences.

6. What Happens After the Session

• Editing and Retouching: I’ll carefully edit the best images, enhancing their natural beauty while keeping them timeless and authentic.

• Viewing and Ordering: Afterward, you’ll view your gallery and select your favorite images to print, frame, or design into an album.

7. Frequently Asked Questions

Don’t worry—this is completely normal! I have years of experience working with newborns and will take the time to soothe and comfort your baby.

Q: Should I bring anything to the session?
